While surfing the internet, often users tends to bookmark the important links for future reference and people who use Google Chrome browser like me finds it even more easy as it has a great bookmark management. But many times we bookmarks the same link again or maybe we may take them from someone else as we don’t know they already exists or even many times the links becomes dead.
So How to remove Duplicate and Dead Bookmarks from Google Chrome for better bookmark management? Don’t worry because I have a simple solution to this problem in form of Bookmark Sentry. It is a Google Chrome extension that enables you to scan your Chrome’s bookmark lists for duplicate, bad and dead links. All you have to do is follow the given steps.
1. Install Bookmark Sentry through the link below. After opening the link just click on “Add to chrome”
2. Open your Chrome browser extension page through Tools–>Extensions. You will see all installed chrome extensions including Bookmark Sentry, Click on “Options”.
3. As you click on options, a bookmark scan will automatically start that will detect all the Dead and Duplicate links. You may even choose to scan either for Dead or Duplicate bookmarks or both.
4. When your scan gets completed, you will get a result page displaying Dead and Duplicate links from your bookmark collection that can all be deleted easily.
Bookmarks with 404 errors are in fact safe to delete, but you must have a glance on the other bookmarks as some of them that require authentication will cause connection errors. Bookmark Sentry will also give you and option for Scheduled scans so that you don’t have to bother about the repeated scans on your computer.
